Unspoiled Shoreline

The longest continuous unspoiled shoreline

on the north shore of Lake Ontario

When it comes to wildlife habitats, size matters. The South Shore of Prince Edward County has over 2,000 hectares of undeveloped natural habitat. Even the Ministry of Natural Resources admits that’s important.

  • “The combination of size, extent of shoreline, known species diversity and special features make this site unique …” (Ministry of Natural Resources, 2008, describing the area which is a candidate site for an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest)

An industrial wind factory at Ostrander Point would fragment this valuable site, disrupting the natural movement of wildlife through their habitat. It couild even cause the extirpation (local extinction) of some species.
