Overview of Fund Raising Activities for OPAF

June 2 report, Cheryl Anderson

This was a week for the Field Naturalists to be thankful.  Several people from the County have jumped in to help with the fund raising for the Ostrander Point Appeal.

Early on to the funding band wagon was Sandee McMullen from Ameliasburg.   Sandee has been a daily attendant at the hearing in Demorestville.  A talented watercolourist, she has created a series of delightful bird paintings for sale – proceeds to the Ostrander Point Appeal Fund.  The little matted pictures are selling like hot cakes and so far have added $200 to our OPAF account.

Judy Plomer is a wonderful County artist.  Side Street Gallery exhibits her exuberant, colourful County inspired scenes and botanicals.  Judy has a series of cards reproducing of some of her most popular images.  The cards are for sale at several County outlets and at Three Pines Esthetics.  At Three Pines $3.00 of the purchase price of each card is donated to OPAF.  The cards are a very popular item with my esthetics clients and you are invited to drop by and take a look.

Robin Lunn and Suzy Thorn have devised a fun event to help out.  They have organized a County Scavenger Hunt as a money raiser for OPAF.  This fun event is taking place this week, winding up on Saturday June 8 at the PEC Curling Club 2-4:30 pm.  Teams will bring in their finds for judging and enjoy a beverage, snacks and music while the winners are decided.  Here is the list of items:

We are grateful for all the help and enthusiasm from our donors and fund raising colleagues.

In the meantime, the hearings continue in Demorestville this week starting at 10 am on Monday and 9:30 Tuesday through Friday.  Try to get out and support the brave individuals that are testifying to their health problems as a result of wind turbines.
